In summer, the region around Lake Spitzingsee is ideal for mountain hiking, climbing or just relaxing in the alpine sun. With an altitude of 1,100 to 1,800 m above sea level, the region offers wonderful views and experiences for an unforgettable family holiday: panoramic vistas, cosy mountain huts, lush alpine meadows and rugged rocky mountains leave nothing to be desired for nature lovers and those seeking peace and quiet.
Some of the most beautiful climbing and hiking routes start at the cable car mountain stations. The Taubenstein cable car and the Stümpfling chairlift whisk their guests quickly, comfortably and safely up into the mountains of Taubenstein, Roßkopf and Stümpfling. The Sutten chairlift takes you from Rottach-Egern at Lake Tegernsee up to the Tegernsee Mountains. Most tours have an easy to medium level of difficulty and last between 20 minutes and four hours - so there are hikes for every taste and spare time slot.
Adventure playgrounds await the little ones at the Taubenstein summit restaurant and Jagahütt´n restaurant on Mt. Stümpfling, which are located next to the mountain stations. The recently introduced mountain carts provided an exhilarating adrenaline rush for the adventurous. The specially-designed go-carts for alpine use allow you to race downhill from the Stümpfling chairlift mountain station along a safe track over a distance of 3.5 km.
The Spitzingsee-Tegernsee ski area connects the valleys around the Stümpfling and Rosskopf mountains. From Spitzingsee, the T-bar lift and the Stümpfling 4-seater chairlift bring skiers and snowboarders quickly and comfortably to the area.

Whether in summer or winter, a ride on the Wallbergbahn is highly recommended. The cable car will whisk you up the Wallberg mountain, the local mountain of the Tegernsee holiday region, in no time. From the mountain station at 1624 m above sea level, you’ll have a magnificent view of Lake Tegernsee and the famous Wallberg Chapel. The Wallberg Panorama Restaurant is easy to reach and the hike to the summit takes approximately 45 minutes. However, you will need sturdy hiking boots!
Mt. Wallberg is a paradise for paragliders and hang gliders, thanks to its usually excellent thermals. In winter, the Wallbergbahn offers you the quickest route to one of the longest natural toboggan runs in Bavaria. Toboggans can be hired from the Wallbergbahn hire station.
